Sadhya - the Malayali vegetarian feast

Updated: Aug 31, 2020

Sadhya is a feast of Kerala origin and of importance to all Malayalis, consisting of a variety of traditional vegetarian dishes served on a banana leaf in Kerala as lunch.

During my trip to Kochi in November 2019, I had this delicious Sadhya at the Ambiswamy's Vegetarian Restaurant at Kadavanthra Junction. What surprised me is that the meal was served by a Nepali attendant and he could pronounce names of each dish in an authentic accent. When I asked him about his connection, he smiled and mentioned that he was on the job since 4 years!

The wholesome spread included Kerala Red Rice, Parippu, Sambar, Rasam, Avial, Kaalan, Olan, Kuttukari, Errisery, Pachadi, Pulisseri, Injipuli, Thoran, Achaar, Papadam, sharkara upperi, kaaya Varuthathu, banana, curd & Payasam

Cost: Rs. 130 for unlimited servings of the fresh meal
