Brun Maska, Irani Chai, Mava Cakes...

Yazdani Bakery used to be a favorite snack place for me when I worked in Nariman Point. If you wanted a light (or maybe not so light) evening snack with a cup of chai, I would recommend you to visit this historic bakery started by Mr. Meherwan Zend in 1953.

If you walk past the bakery that looks quite run down by now, you cannot miss the aroma of the freshly baked bread and other goodies. This place is mostly frequented by the office crowd from the Fort area. Local residents mostly visit the bakery for their fresh loaves of bread.

I am not a very big fan of the Irani Chai, but I like to sip a couple of cups with the crisp brun with generous serving of the salty maska.

Their Mava cakes are the best ones I have had. Once, when I packed a few of them before going to my office in Nariman Point and was in the office elevator, a lady could not resist asking what I was carrying with me. The aroma of these freshly baked mava cakes is irresistible. These cakes run out of stock very quickly.

Never forget to pick up some crisp Khari Biscuits take-away so that you can enjoy those with your chai at home.

Enjoy your chai!
